Prayers for my Future Husband - Day 6

Lord Jesus,

Thank you so much for my future beloved! Thank you for the man you've called him to be. I pray that you would prepare him for a relationship and for marriage. Prepare his heart, his mind, and his future. I pray that he would fall desperately in love with you before he falls in love with me, Jesus. I ask that you would teach him how to love you before he learns how to love his wife.

Give him wisdom and intuition for his future marriage, guard him from making bad decisions that may hurt or affect our future. God, if he makes mistakes along the way help him to know the extreme depths of your grace. Let him know that there is NO condemnation in you, Lord. Restore the joy of salvation in his life. Don't allow him to continue in sin or beat himself up for his mistakes.

Lord, let my future husband know how much you love him, lift up his head and let him be strong in his faith. Help him realize the warrior he is in you. I love you, Father! Prepare me as well as my darling for a relationship under you.

Amen!

Prayers for my Future Husband - Day 5

Dear Jesus,

I might not know who my future husband is but I do know that he is the man you have hand-picked for me. You know his strengths and weakness as well as mine. I know that you will bring us together in your timing, in your will and in your power. Help the both of us to trust you for everything. Help us to rely on you for true happiness and contentedness instead of each other.

I know that whatever lies ahead in our future together that you will be with us. I pray that every decision that my future husband and I make leading up to the day we marry will be one made seeking your wisdom. Please help us to choose to do the right thing, always. Please guard and protect both of our hearts. Be the center of our lives, our relationship and our future.

Bring us together under you and for your glory, Jesus. Bless my future husband today, give him joy, give him a heart for you and a heart for others. Don't let the pressures and demands of the world around him bring him down. Please shield and uphold him with your righteous right hand. I ask all of these things in Your Holy Name.
Amen!

The date.

Today I went on a date.
Now it wasn't just any regular date, this was a first date; my first date.

I've never gone on a date before and never had a real boyfriend before; mostly because no one has ever asked me out before. For years I have tried to figure out why, but more on that later.

Okay it's later. Well I still don't know for sure why, and I probably won't ever. My suspicions, however, is that God simply didn't want me to.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying God is against dating, not at all. I'm simply saying in my case, He just didn't want me to. I tend to obsess over things and overthink them, as most of us ladies do. But over the past few months I've been growing up. I've been letting go of things and not worrying anymore. Before I was very passive aggressive but now I'm just passive, with aggressive tendencies ;) but seriously I've learned to let go of a lot of anger and just chill. If something happens, it just happens.

When I went on my date, I wasn't worried at all about if the guy liked me, which to be honest is a little weird. I was more worried about my appearance before hand. I think I convinced myself that if he didn't like me, that wasn't my fault and I think that's how our mindset should be in situations like that.

The biggest thing I learned from this date, was that God loved me.

Okay I know what you're thinking, umm Bethany, I think you missed the point of a date there champ...

But I don't think I did at all. The point of a godly relationship is to bring you closer to God, point blank. We can say dating has other purposes, but that's what it's supposed to be no matter how we try to kid ourselves. As I was getting ready and trying on different shoes, I felt special. I felt important. And I felt loved. God had blessed with an opportunity of a date, even when I did it against him out of self and longing for love. I think he allowed me to go to reassure me that he had the love I was looking for. I felt like a princess and I felt taken care of, by God not necessarily my date.

The point of all this, is God really does want to lavish on you whether you follow his plan or not. I haven't been the best Christian over the past few months but now I'm trying again. I'm making a conscience effort to please my king, not out of an obligation for his love but to show him I love him, as a gift.

Prayers for My Future Husband -Day 4

Dear Jesus,
Please help my future husband to daily become closer with you. Each day may he love you more and more. Please help him to put you first in his life. There are so many distractions that come up throughout the day and even if they are innocent ones they can still hinder his getting to spend time with you.

So, I pray that you would be the first thing on his mind when he awakes in the morning and that he will keep meditating and thinking about you and your word all day long until he goes to sleep at night.

Please help Him to seek out your word, the Bible, and to have a hunger and thirst to know you better and to hear what you are trying to say to him within it. Guide him through your word and give him wisdom and understanding as he reads it. May he thrive and flourish like the man in Psalm 1 who is constantly thinking upon your law. Please equip him in his quiet time with you to meet whatever the day may throw at Him and to boldly follow wherever you may lead him.
Amen!

Prayers for My Future Husband-Day 3

Dear Father,

I want to lift up my future husband in prayer today. Thank you for the man he is today and for the man he will be tomorrow. I ask in faith that you would guard and protect him from attacks from the devil today. Secure him in your grasp, Jesus. Thank you for his heart and I pray that you would draw him closer to you today.

I pray that this man you have planned for my future is a man of uprightness and integrity. I pray that despite anything that he might have gone through in the past that you would make his story one of victory. Turn his tests into testimonies and his trials into triumphs. I ask that you would continue molding him and shaping him into a man after your own heart.

I pray that while he is working and preparing for his future that I would have the drive and ambition to do the same. Instill in both of us patience and trust in your plan, Father. Thank you for your perfect plan for my life and his. I ask these things in the power of your Son’s Name.

Amen!

Prayers for my Future Husband- Day 2

Dear Lord,

In a world that is okay with every imaginable perversion of the truth and sexual sin, I pray that you would give my future husband victory over the temptations that saturate today’s world.

While from every mouth easy gratification is being proclaimed as a basic human right, give him the wisdom to realize that there is something more to be strived for. In all areas of his life let him be seeking your will and your glory above his own wishes and desires. Give him complete conviction that in the end your ways will yield the greatest satisfaction.

Surround him with other men that are seeking purity and truth who will encourage him to higher standards rather than presenting him with opportunities to stumble. Give him friends that are willing to call him out for things that will hurt his purity, and likewise, let him be the kind of man that knows how to gracefully provoke his peer group to a higher standard of living. Above all, give him the wisdom to desire your plan above the ways of the world.

Amen.

Prayers for my Future Husband-Day 1

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank you for your loving care. Thank you for having a perfect plan for my life. I pray that you would instill in my life trust and patience in you, God. I pray for my future beloved, that you would be with him today while he is at work, while he is driving, while he interacts with other people-go with him, God. I pray that you would speak to him today, make your voice the most prominent voice in his life.

While I don't know what he struggles with, you do. I don't know his dreams, but you do. I don't know his past, but you do. Help me know how to pray for him today, before I even know him... And Lord, please be his everything so that when we meet he can lead us closer to you, together.

Make my future beloved into the spiritual leader that I need and that our future family will need. Show him how important that aspect of a relationship is. Protect and shield him from any lies that the devil may send to bring him down today. Thank you for loving he and I, Lord. Show us how to love you in return. I love you, Jesus.
Amen!

Frozen Obsession

So a lot of people don't understand my obsession with Frozen, so I thought I would explain. WARNING. Really long explanation.

My sister and I really relate to the characters in the story. Now I don't have secret ice powers or anything, but for a lot of my life I lived in fear and honestly didn't get to close to anyone to protect myself from being hurt. I struggle with and work really hard at being transparent and not disguising who I am with white lies. I've been working hard to wear everything on my sleeve, so when I am fully exposed I won't be ashamed. I don't let anyone close; it might seem like i do, but i don't normally. So if you are close it's a big deal. And I see these traits in Elsa, she hides things and never lets anyone close, she lies and hides her powers. Conceal, don't feel. But then she realizes letting go of those precious secrets will truly set her free. She doesn't have to live in fear anymore.

Also my sister and I have literally had almost the same exact relationship as Elsa and Anna. We used to be best friends when we were little, then we faded apart when I went to high school, until about a year and a half ago. I love Brianna with all my heart, and she's gone through a lot and I wasn't always there for her like I should've been. I spent a ton of time in my room whenever I was home, and now I'm constantly at work or school to avoid being home. But i realized by separating myself from that home environment, I was separating myself from her. Elsa was separated from her sister and she didn't know how to fix it. It tore her to pieces inside, it caused a storm inside that she could never escape. But once she reached a certain age, she realized that she might not be able to fix the problem, but she didn't have to hide to fix it. She became herself and realized being proud of who she was wasn't a wrong thing to do. She didn't have to hide who she was to get her parents acceptance, because that's who she was and they loved her no matter who she was.

I am terrified of never seeing my sister again, or not being there when she needs me. I love her so much, like more than words can ever describe. I've had people comment on us, and say they had no idea sisters were so loving towards one another, but it's because we missed so much time together and I'm terrified of her being gone from my life. I think Elsa and Anna feel the same way, maybe not for the same reasons, but a lot of our feelings are the same. So I'm sorry that we both post about it all the time, but that is why.

Maybe you don't want to be a model.

These women liked themselves but these photoshoots changed them into something they're not. Who do you want to be?

#OOTD: Numero Uno.

Alright, so I know this isn't necessarily a Selfiespect post saying something about myself but instead a fashion post.

I love clothes. I love the feeling I get when I wear cute clothes or make a great outfit or find a great deal while out shopping. Most of my clothes I get from relatively cheap places like Walmart, Target, or Debshops.

My Outfit:
Gray Beret, $5, Walmart
Eagle Necklace, $3.80, Forever21
Faux Leather Jacket with Fleece Sleeves, $40, Debshops
Red Plaid Studded Shirt, $15, Kmart
Black Jeggings, $13, Walmart
Boot Cuffs, $5 (Materials), Homemade :)
American Eagle Ugg Boots, $40, Payless Shoe Source

So as you can see all of these are the retail prices when I got them on sale so less than this even. I love the rebel, leather punk look. I love how independent and confident the wearer looks and feels. Some may think it might look grungy but as long as you wear a smile and not heavy dark makeup.

With this outfit the blacks and reds really accent each other. I think it honestly looks very crisp. With Christmas coming in the next few weeks the reds also go along with the Holiday season. The plaid kinda makes one look wider than they are but it accentuates your shoulders which adds to the confident look.

What types of styles do you like?

10. 07. 13. My Nose.

10. 07. 13. My Nose.

Day Seventeen.
My Nose.

I think every girl has not liked her nose at some point. She either wants it smaller and cuter or covered in freckles or without freckles. She has either wanted a ring in it or for it so be simply zit free.

I've always thought my nose was too big, too round, too weird. I never thought it looked cute even though my mother constantly told me it was the smallest nose in the family. People always said my nose was the most British thing about me. Weird thing for someone to say, right? I always thought my nose took up too much space on my face, but the more I think about it; the more I think I'd rather have a nose than more cheek area. I know that sounds really funny, but honestly that's how I feel.

The nose was created for so many different reasons; so you can breathe, smell, make funny faces, and all sorts of other purposes. Our noses are one of the least under appreciated things about our faces. I would love to thank my nose for everything it has ever done for me and how it has always been there for me whenever I have needed it.

10. 05. 13. Prophecy.

10. 05. 13. Prophecy.

Day Fifteen.
Prophecy.

I won't deny that I have the gift of prophecy. Somehow God allows me to sometimes see things that are going to happen. I have discernment and can see things happen. Somethings that I don't want to happen, I know will happen. I won't go into details about different things that I think will happen until they come to pass and are proven true. But I do thank the Lord for the things he has saved me from by showing the consequences to me before hand. I do thank him for everything he has said to me. I thank him that he has given me this gift even though I don't know how to use it right now. It says in 2 Timothy somewhere along the lines that in the last days your sons and daughters will have the gift of prophecy and will see visions and have dreams. I know I am prophetic. One of my friends is an interpreter. What if this is talking about us and others who don't even realize their gifts yet?

If God has given you a gift, don't hide it away. Let him use it for its intended purposes. You may not see the reasons right now but he will show even if in eternity.

10. 04. 13. Wisdom.

10. 04. 13. Wisdom. {Homecoming!}

Day Fourteen.
Wisdom.

This goes along very much with my carefulness. Ever since maybe two years ago, I've wanted to be a teen girls' counselor or youth leader. I believe God has given me a wisdom in this area that most do not have and I want to help the next generation. Life is so crazy and I have gone through so much in just the past few years, and I can't even imagine how it'll be for the teens coming up now. The world is beginning to spin faster and faster and if we don't have an anchor we will go flying with it or off it.

I'm one of those people where I can see and sometimes feel other peoples' pain. I notice when something is wrong. Now I know it sounds weird for me to be all like 'I'm really wise' etc. but the wisdom God has given me I thank him for. I have helped several of my friends through crazy situations by the words and thoughts that come out of my mouth that are not my own. Once the Holy Spirit lives in you, your mouth and mind are no longer yours. He will equip you with wisdom and strength and every good thing in his timing if he is allowed.

For a girl who has wisdom, is beautiful. Wisdom comes from God and he wants to give it to us, all we need do is ask. I ask for more of his wisdom and wait in expectation. We are all beautiful in mind, body, and soul. God created you, don't deny the truth.

10. 03. 13. Carefulness.

10. 03. 13. Carefulness.

Day Thirteen.
Carefulness.

All my life I have been the careful one. I've always been afraid of getting in trouble or getting hurt or doing something wrong. I've essentially been afraid of making mistakes. I always wanted to be perfect. I was never the risk taker. I was always the goody two shoes, the boring one. I never lived for adventure.

Last year, I went to Guatemala on a missions trip. Missions trips often do things to you that you honestly don't want them too. While I was there I went to my first water park. It was different than American parks. There were less people, less commercialism, and no life guards. I am not a very strong swimmer because for years I was afraid of the water and of drowning. The tallest slide at the park faced me. All my friends were going down, daring each other, etc. Then it was my turn. My youth pastor and I were both super scared. My friend Tierney forced me to go down. I made a deal with Pastor Michael that if I went down he had to go down. So I went first. It was so exhilarating. Once I landed in the water I floundered around until I reached the surface but I made it and didn't drown. It was so worth overcoming my fear and cautiousness. That trip really taught me to overcome my fear and decipher between which emotions are fear and which ones are wisdom.

Yes, I am always cautious but that's a good thing. I just need to make sure that's what it is and not fear. People say they value how careful I am, but I am completely free so I don't need to fear death or the future. God has a calling on my life and even if I mess some things up He will still use it for his greater purpose.

10. 02. 13. Purity.

10. 02. 13. Purity.

Day Twelve.
Purity.

Most of my generation, the up and comings, the teenagers, are not pure. They have given their purity over to someone else hoping that it'll give them happiness and fulfillment when most of the time it leaves them empty and wanting more chasing after the next feeling. All anyone ever wants is to be truly, deeply loved. We run to our friends, to our families, to our significant others, to our spouses, searching for the one thing that can satisfy us. The one thing that will make us feel accepted and like we're good enough. People run and look and scour for their heart's desire which is love but they look in all the wrong places. We will never be satisfied. We will never be able to fill that gap in each other's hearts. There is only one thing that can fill your heart. Not your family, not your friends but Jehovah. They will never be enough. But He will. They will you let you down, but He never will.

I am proud to say I am pure. I have never kissed anyone. I have never given anything away. Not many of my peers can say the same. I wear a purity ring to remind myself of my promise. I've promised not to give any of that away. Yes, the older I get the more people think I'm engaged; but I kinda am, to the Creator of the Universe. He will give me away in His time, but for now I'm all His.

Christ has made me pure. Any mistakes I have made, He has washed it clean. I am pure in his eyes, and those are the only eyes I seek approval from. Those are the only eyes I ever want to seek approval from.

10. 01. 13. Random Moles on My Face

10. 01. 13. Random Moles on my Face

Day Eleven.
Random Moles on my face

So I have about 5 moles on my face which I always thought were just awkward. There is a group of three of them on my right cheek which I always just thought looked weird. I think it adds character to my face. There's one in the middle of my forehead towards the top. I always I thought it looked like I was from India because they paint those red dots on their face but it's way too high up now I realize. The most noticeable one is the one right above my lips on the right side. I always though it made me look like I was from the '90's or something. Now I realize it looks a lot like Marilyn Monroe's famous beauty mark so I really am blessed to have it. People see it as beauty if they even notice it. Some of my older friends in their 20's have received piercings called a 'Monroe' to create that look of class and ultimate beauty which we all see Marilyn Monroe as.

A lot of times the little blemishes that we see others never do. Even now I'm trying to straighten out my eyebrow after looking at this picture and seeing it a little scruffed up. We scrutinize ourselves and then freak because we think someone will find a problem with it. People see us differently than we see ourselves. They perceive us before they truly know us. We are really searching to become perfection. But we already are. God made me perfectly. God made you perfectly. I've had little kids tell me that I'm really pretty and I just shrug it off but lately I've been thinking about it. Children will state the truth. They say their opinion typically without fear. Why can't we? Why don't we tell people how beautiful they look? Why when we do compliment each other do we shake it off? Why can't we accept the truth? Why have the lies told to us before affect the truth we now hear?
